Something to thnk about.
Get Off The Fence
And Elijah came near to all the people and said, “How long will you go limping between two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” And the people did not answer him a word. 1 Kings 18:21 ESV
Elijah is speaking to his people, the Jewish people. Nothing of what he said at that time was intended for anyone other than the Israelites. He is talking to a nation that has experienced the direct intervention of God. You would think with that history these people would have lived with an abundance of faith. Yet, they are straddling the fence.
It is amazing to me that humanity at its core has not changed in thousands of years. We have people not just in one nation but throughout the world who are sitting on the same fence. Humanity struggles with conflicting beliefs within ourselves, we want to comingle two sets of opposing beliefs. You cannot have both fire and water in the same space either the water will put out the fire or the fire will evaporate the water.
As Joshua said, “And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
Jesus said, “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Rev 13 15-16
